A normal resting state for humans is an alkaline balance. When your blood is acidified, your body is trying to rid itself of excess acid via excretion. This can result in frequent trips to the bathroom, which may be misconstrued as part of the symptoms of diabetes or gout.
Instead, these symptoms indicate inflammation or health issues related to nutritional deficiencies, autoimmune disorders, or cancer. Unfortunately, most Americans are drinking increasingly acidic beverages, mostly from sugar content.
Alkaline water is either filtered or distilled water that has been adjusted with acid or base to be more neutral. The acids used to adjust the water are typically source-based, such as lemon for plain old water with added flavor, chloride for springwater, and bicarbonate for purified (distilled) water.
The most common bases used to make alkaline water in the market today are sodium and potassium carbonates. Because these two elements are both neutral, adding one can change the pH of the water.
That’s why there are some brands that advertise their alkaline waters as “bio-effective” or “pH balanced.” Bio-effective means that the water helps your body maintain healthy function; pH balance refers to the acidity or alkalinity of the fluid in which something does functioning.
A good way to determine whether an alkaline drink is worth it is to compare prices per bottle between different sources. Some cost much less than others due to being made up of leftovers or recycled bottles.
First, you need to know what kind of filter your device needs to function. Most common filters are ceramic or carbon filterts.

Unfortunately, not all water filters are made the same! There are many different types of filters that claim to improve your health. Some reduce the amount of chlorine in the drinking water, which can be harmful if you have severe allergies or asthma.
Other products add various chemicals to the water to make it more alkaline. While some people believe these additives help prevent cancer, there is no proof of this theory.
In fact, several studies suggest that ingesting acidity may increase your risk of certain cancers. So while some individuals perceive purified water as healthier than tap water, this belief is unfortunately unfounded.
It is important to remember that whether your water is natural or artificial does NOT affect your overall health. Drinking appropriate amounts of water is very important for our bodies to work properly.

Ceramic filters remove substances such as chlorine, fluoride, and heavy metals like mercury, lead, and arsenic. A few brands make their dried clay still wet and you have the option of reusing it or recycling it.
If you’re looking to try alkaline drinking for a week, don’t worry about whether the water is too strong or not! That is totally dependent on what type of drink you mix it with. For instance, if you mix it with milk, then it will become more acid! Try making sure you drink enough food while on the bottle so you do not suffer from thirst.
